About The HomeTrumpeter

The HomeTrumpeter is a property management solutions system that hopes to revolutionize how property management is operated. The goal of the HomeTrumpeter system is to create a platform that allows property owners and managers to oversee property management operations with unparalleled ease, as well as connect them with qualified and certified service providers. Hence, there are two aspects to the project: first is a property management tool, and second is a service providers business portal.

The Problem
The HomeTrumpeter already had some user interface (UI) designs and was underway to completing the project when I was brought on to evaluate and possibly, redesign the system if needed. The team already knew that the design that they were working with would not meet their project goals in terms of usability and accessibility.
Why Redesign?
The UI evaluation and heuristic analysis indicated that there was a major need to:
  • Redesign the user interface to comply with accessibility requirements and common place usability heuristics.
  • Improve the user experience by redesigning certain end-to-end workflows.

Intended Outcome

  • Consistency in the UI elements
  • Enhance error prevention in the user experience
  • Increase efficiency of the UI and workflows
  • Increase conversion rate by 50%.
  • Increase minutes of usage by 40%.

UI ISSUES WITH OTHER SCREENS

Current UI

Pain Points

  • Feedback and error prevention: Users completed key steps during the workflow without getting any feedback as to whether their actions were successful or not.
  • Tedious and redundant processes: Users are forced to click on items on a list to first highlight it, and then click on another button to proceed, instead of simply making that option into a single click.
  • Convoluted navigation: Certain critical and essential processes, such as options for making rent payments, were buried under layers of drop-downs.

Design Strategy
